Ioanna-Ourania Stathopoulou received a degree in Computer Science and then a doctorate from the Department of Informatics, University of Piraeus. Her research interests include emotional computer human interaction, pattern recognition, the computer vision and their applications in user modeling, information retrieval and intelligent software systems. Ioanna-Ourania Stathopoulou has over twenty publications in international scientific journals and conferences, and wrote a book called “Visual Affect Recognition”, which is published by the publishing house IOS Press.
Since May 2007, she is working as a software engineer in Software Application Development Department of the National Documentation Centre (EKT), actively participating in the design and development of digital repositories and electronic journals (e-journals). In the past two years she participated in the design and development of the platform for the automatic validation and aggregation of metadata and digital files in the field of Cultural Heritage. She has extensive experience in multi-tier application design and development and in the definition of technical requirements and project reports.
She is also working as freelancer in the development of websites and the implementation of applications and web services using open source technologies.
